Have you or someone close to you been to a drug rehab and where was it and would you recommend it?

I need help for a drug and alcohol problem. I know I’ve made the first step by admitting atleast I have a big problem. I’m very scared of detoxing but I can no longer live this way. I’ve lost interest in everything and my life is consumed by thinking of how I’ll get my next “high”. My drug of choice is opiates and they are awful to get off of. I have quit in the past (which was HELL!) but always returned. My family thinks that I should atleast go 90 days because the standard 28 days is just not long enough as I’ve been a user for around 15 years. I used to be very preety and I look terrible now. I’m constantly depressed. I also have some mental health issues that are worsened by my usage (severe anxiety, manic depression and OCD). Has anyone heard of Summerhouse Detox? I was thinking of detoxing there and maybe going somewhere in Canada for rehab (as it’s much cheaper). I would love to go the Cirque Lodge in Utah where Lindsay Lohan is going but it’s just too expensive!

Awww….poor kid! I feel for you! I am an ex-alcoholic, so I understand! I just woke up one day and said that’s it, I can’t do this another day and stopped. I didn’t need any professional help.
I’ve heard Hazelton in Minnesota is very good. This was some time ago, I think it’s still around. Lots of celebs go there too, so it may also be expensive, worth checking out though.
All my best to you!!

I’d just recommend that you get out of state. Get far from your “friends” and dealers.
Also, your family is right about the 90 days. 28 days is a joke and its so easy to coast through that program.
I did a 28 day program and it took a big relapse to smarten me up. The program itself didn’t do much for me.
My brother was involved with Cocaine for a very long time….my parents sent him to a drug rehab in Utah altho I dont know if it was the “Cirque Lodge” I do know that it invlolved camping and wilderness training. After he got back from Utah he got back involved with the cocaine again and my parents sent him to rehab in California. My family was not able to contact him at all for 6 months myself and my grandmother included….My point is this, look for a rehab outside of the city you are in. You are more likely to be concentrated or your recovery. I myself went to a rehab in Albany, Ga called Greenleaf which wasnt fun but then again it wasnt supposed to be.
A second recomendation I would have for you is this…take it how you want. Get away from the people that you know that are a drug influence. Start over if you have to, I did just that 5 years ago and moved to a city with 80 dollars in my pocket. I lived in a motel for 6 months and worked crappy jobs untill 2 years ago. I now work for a 5 star resort in South GA…am I bragging? Maybe but mostly to myself for being proud of where I am and how I changed my life around.
you speak as if you want or need ongoing therapy, have you considered NA after all this rehab is over.
